What is the scientific reliability of the technological aspects that are shown in futuristic films?

How has science fiction evolved in the cinema?

Could you travel in time?

And through the human body?

The Cartagena International Film Festival and UPCT-Bloopbusters, a project of the Scientific and Technological Culture Unit of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, come together in this Scientific Film Cycle to answer all these questions through the projection of two films that have already become classics in their genre and that will serve as a basis on which to converse, both from a cinematographic and scientific point of view, about how cinema has represented technological advances, intermingling reality and fiction.

To do this, the Caja Mediterráneo Foundation's Culture Classroom will become a movie theater where they will screen on Monday the 19th and Tuesday the 20th, at 7:00 pm, "The amazing journey" Richard Fleischer.

USA, 1966 and "Return to the future" Robert Zemeckis.

USA, 1985, respectively.

After the screening of the tapes, a colloquium will be held to analyze, from a cinematographic and scientific point of view, how cinema has represented technological advances, intermingling reality and fiction.

The people who will participate in this colloquium will be Enrique Castro, Full Professor in the Department of Applied Physics of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena;

Manuel Abrisqueta, short filmmaker and responsible for the audiovisual production of the Digital Content Production Center of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena;

and Nacho Ros, President of the FICC.

Admission is free until full capacity and its programming is part of the Week of Science and Energy of Repsol and its Foundation.
