The jury of the International Poetry Prize Antonio Oliver Belmás announced this Monday, November 19, that the winning work of its XXXII edition is 'Says Kabir and other poems', by the author Jesús Aguado.
The presentation was made by the Councilor for Culture, David Martínez Noguera, who thanked the members of the jury of this international contest, who are the poetess Blanca Andreu;
the poet Eloy Sánchez;
the member of the Royal Academy of History, Luis Alberto de Cuenca;
the writer Manuel Ramírez;
the poet Vicente Gallego;
and the director of the Popular University, José Macián, who has acted as secretary of the award.
The councilor noted that this edition has significantly exceeded the participation over the previous year, as they have received a total of 165 works from different parts of Spain, as well as Belgium, France, United Kingdom, Portugal, Germany, Colombia, Mexico, Argentina, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, Ecuador, USA, Israel and Japan.
David Martínez pointed out that the variety of the places of origin of the works shows the vocation and international scope of the Prize, at the same time as it has indicated that two poems of authors from Cartagena have been presented.
The winner of the contest will receive a prize of 6,000 euros and the prize-winning work will be published by the Editorial Pre-Textos, which will give it publicity and publicity.
The mayor of Culture has used his speech to congratulate the Popular University for his long career and has shown his desire that this Award "continue to fulfill many more years."
The guitar teacher of the Conservatory of Music of Cartagena, Fran Capiscol, has enlivened the failure of this international recognition with the interpretation of Punta and heel in the opening;
and Zapateando en Re, at the close of the ceremony.

Vicente Gallego, on behalf of the jury, has highlighted the level of quality of the 165 works that have been presented this year, at the same time that has indicated that the winning work this year is a book where exceptional poems are found.
Gallego has pointed out that Says Kabir, which has about eight pages, is one of the most exciting books he has read, while pointing out that in poetry there is nothing more difficult than maintaining the poetic intensity in a text of these characteristics .
The jury member has emphasized the depth of view on the mystery of life, as well as the level of resolution of writing and "its admirable musicality".
Gallego said that in this edition has been awarded a magic book in which, through the poem Says Kabir, the author, who puts himself in the skin of an Indian poet, speaks of the world from the vision of emptiness.
