Asido Cartagena, association for the care of people with Down syndrome and their families, celebrated last night the XVII 'Amigo Solidario' Gala, which was used to raise funds to continue developing their activities.
The Minister of Family and Equal Opportunities, Violante Tomás, showed the support of the Autonomous Community to the work carried out by this entity and stressed that "the goal of the regional government is to continue dedicating resources to people with disabilities and helping those who they need. "
"In addition to their families, they have the support of the Ministry and the entire regional government to provide opportunities and quality of life," he added.
The Community has allocated more than 650,000 euros this year to Asido Cartagena, which manages an Early Care center, a day center and a learning home where people with Down syndrome learn to cope with daily tasks and daily life autonomous
In total, this Cartagena association serves 93 people with the help of the Community.
The 'Amigo Solidario' Gala also presented its awards which recognize the work of people or organizations that support people with disabilities.
It has been the case of the Pablo Neruda school in Balsapintada, awarded for its inclusive work with students with Down syndrome and for raising awareness among the rest of the classmates.
In addition, the Eurofirms company was recognized for its effort in the labor inclusion of the people of this group.
