The Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT) extends the willingness of researchers from its Department of Economics to make reports on the economic situation with a new chair, whose creation has been signed today by the Rector, Alejandro Díaz, and the president of COEC, Pedro Pablo Hernández .
The new Chair of Economic Studies Services will be open to requests for reports from other entities and will add to those already done monthly for the employers of Cartagena an annual strategy and economic forecast for the region of Cartagena that will be presented on 5 December at the El Batel, during the days of business leaders.
"The objective is to take advantage of the human capital of our professors", explains the director of the Department of Economics of the UPCT, Rosa Badillo.
"With this chair COEC reaffirms his confidence in the Polytechnic of Cartagena", has highlighted the rector Diaz.
"With the formation of chair we ensure the continuity of these studies of economic situation, which are very important for companies in the region to know the pulse of the economy," said the president of COEC.
The study will include analysis of the different economic sectors, the state of innovation in the business sector of the region and a macroeconomic radiography.
"It's a very important picture of what is happening," added Pedro Pablo Hernández.
Positive evolution of employment and the economy
The person in charge of COEC has advanced that the regional economy "progresses appropriately" in view of the monthly reports on the labor market that the UPCT has been carrying out.
"The number of affiliates to the Social Security is increasing and the apparent rate of unemployment registered in the region decreases," said Badillo, noting that the latter is an indicator of his own, given that there were no data on municipal and regional unemployment.
