MC Cartagena will present an initiative at the next plenary session to demand that the socialist government receive and incorporate into the municipal heritage the reliefs of the Cartagena sculptor Manuel Ardil Pagán who are currently in the headquarters of a banking entity, which offered them to the City Council, receiving the Silenced by response from the Executive of Castejón.
Allegories of Cartagena and its history
Within its production, Ardil has bequeathed to Cartagena a great artistic and cultural heritage as El Icue or the Monument to the Processionist.
Also, among his works, are the aforementioned reliefs that contain allegories of the city, its history and some of its most characteristic features.
In this way, the sculptor portrayed the founder of Qart Hadasht, Asdrúbal el Bello, as well as the representation of the field, the mines or the sea.
It should be remembered that José López, from the City Hall, complained to the bank, located on the main street, where these reliefs are located, that these are not covered with furniture and that they are kept with the dignity they deserve, so that Cartagena and tourists can enjoy it.
In this sense, the MC spokesman requires the local government to meet the request of the bank's leaders, who last June offered the City Council that the work of Ardil become part of the municipal heritage.
New contempt of Castejón to the heritage and history of Cartagena
"Castejón shows, once again, his contempt for the history and heritage of Cartagena," lamented López, who has also considered that persevere with this attitude on the part of the mayor "our city could lose this work of great importance and artistic quality. "
Finally, José López has assessed the possibility that after being received by the Consistory, "these reliefs of extraordinary importance may border the Town Hall or the administrative building of San Miguel".
