On Saturday, November 9, the feast of the ancient patron saint of Cartagena, the Virgen del Rosell, will be held, which is why the City of Cartagena will perform its traditional votive function to the Four Saints.
The offering to the four saints will be made by the councilor of the Government Team, Carmen Martín, during a Mass officiated by the General Vicar of the Diocese of Cartagena, Juan Tudela.
Other councilors of the Municipal Corporation will also attend the mass.
The Mass will be celebrated in the Church of Santa María de Gracia at 7:30 p.m.
The tradition of this vow goes back to the night of November 24, 1694, the day of Santa Catalina, when a storm hit the city and was about to devastate it.
Miraculously, this was not the case and his salvation was attributed to the prayers that the people of Cartagena addressed to the Four Saints and the Virgin of Rosell.
The Corporation decided to perform every year an act of gratitude to the Four Saints and the Virgin of Rosell, which has been celebrated since then, first in the old Cathedral and later in Santa Maria de Gracia.
