The rector of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT), Alejandro Díaz, the business director of MicroBank, Ángel Soto, and the director of the Business Area in Cartagena, Carlos Merelo, have signed a collaboration agreement to facilitate the financing of projects entrepreneurs with innovative character through microcredits.
The beneficiaries will be independent professionals and micro enterprises with less than 10 workers and an annual turnover of less than two million euros.
Applicants may apply for micro-credits up to an amount of 50,000 euros, with a limit of 80% of the investment.
The projects must have a business plan and a favorable viability report prepared by the University.
MicroBank's granting criteria for microcredit is fundamentally based on trust in the person or team requesting the loan and the viability of the project, which can be accessed by people lacking guarantees and guarantees.
"That the projects are approved by the UPCT will be essential for our financial risk analysts", explained Carlos Merelo after signing the agreement.
"This agreement is a very important step for our entrepreneurial ecosystem, facilitating the essential access to financing," said the rector of the Polytechnic.
"The objective is that there is no frustrated talent or ideas that have not been developed due to lack of credit", added Alejandro Díaz.
"Through microcredits, new entrepreneurs progressively access the banking market," said Manuel Vergara, territorial head of Banca Emprendedores at CaixaBank.
Under this agreement, the University is committed to detect financing needs, aimed at promoting self-employment, and the establishment, consolidation or expansion of micro-enterprises and self-employed businesses, as well as to provide support services and business advice, analyze the feasibility of the project and direct the individuals or legal entities advised by the University to MicroBank for it to analyze, and if necessary approve, the funding requests.
MicroBank, the social bank specializing in microfinance, fully participated by CaixaBank, is the only bank in Spain dedicated exclusively to the financing of projects through microcredits.
The entity was a pioneer in its business model and continues to be the one that allocates the most resources to the financing of projects through microcredits.
The bank offers microcredit for self-employed workers, entrepreneurs and micro-businesses;
and personal and family microcredits, which aim to meet needs that overcome a temporary difficulty and facilitate personal and family development.
During the financial year of 2018, MicroBank has granted more than 16 million euros in the Region of Murcia to finance projects for entrepreneurs and families.
MicroBank has signed agreements with 597 social entities throughout Spain that ensure the viability of the financed projects.
