The mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, received Thursday the president of Repsol, Antonio Brufau, who has visited the first mayor in the Town Hall, accompanied by the executive director of Repsol Downstream, Juan Antonio Carrillo de Albornoz, and to the director of the Cartagena refinery, Joaquín García-Estañ.
The president of Repsol has explained to the mayor that in the next few years they plan to invest in the Cartagena refinery around 300 million euros.
Ana Belén Castejón has valued this investment very positively.
"The objective of Repsol is to produce second generation biofuels and increase the capacity of its lubricants area.
This investment is great news for our municipality, not only for the jobs that these works will generate and for the economic investment, but also because it guarantees the workload in the Escombreras refinery for many years, "he said.
The mayor recalled that the Repsol refinery is the most important in Spain and one of the most important in Europe, as well as its involvement in the municipality as demonstrated by the collaboration of the Repsol Foundation in the recovery and enhancement of the Forum neighborhood Roman.
