The Taxi Table held this Wednesday, which involved the Councilor for Public Services, Juan Pedro Torralba, as well as the representatives of the four groups of the taxi sector, was defined how to exercise the two days of weekdays of the taxi drivers , as it resulted from the democratic vote that took place on October 30, in which nearly 80% of the taxi drivers of the municipality participated and in which 67.5% of the voters pronounced in favor of the City Council establishes two days of release, one during the week and the other on weekends, interrupting the working day during those days, except for services outside the municipality and other special services that have a clientele and / or socio-health status.

In this meeting the concrete aspects to carry out the weekly rest days were debated, proposing the representative of each taxi association the most convenient way to make use of such days regarding the schedule of schedules, calendars of the breaks, interruptions in holiday periods and holidays, all of which will be formalized by agreement of the Governing Board or Decree regulating the drafts.

On the other hand, in the Taxi Table held with the City Council the associations decided by majority, three against one, that the limited service areas be abolished and the single zone be established immediately, in such a way that the taxi drivers have freedom to provide services, between Cartagena and La Manga del Mar Menor.

This agreement will be implemented as soon as possible to adapt to what will also be regulated in the new Taxi Ordinance that is being prepared for approval in the coming months, once all the mandatory procedures have been completed.

It was also agreed to convene this Working Group on other occasions to outline those issues that arise from the application of the agreements reached.

In addition, it is foreseen that in future calls other agents will be incorporated on behalf of unions and business entities, such as the COEC and the Chamber of Commerce.

The councilor and the directors of the branch thanked the representatives for their collaboration and celebrated the climate of dialogue and understanding that has prevailed throughout this process in the interest of good management of taxi services in the municipality of Cartagena.
