The Governing Board of the Cartagena Port of Cultures Consortium, met today, Tuesday, November 6, under the presidency of the mayor, Ana Belén Castejón, for the award of the project for the 'Execution, production and installation of the museographic project for the equipment of the Museum of the Roman Forum of the Molinete 'to the company Ypuntoending, for an amount of 214.973'43 euros (plus VAT).
The museographic project will be articulated around the three floors where you can admire the pieces recovered in the different excavation campaigns with a chronology that spans from the 20th century to the 3rd century BC
The first floor will house the reception as well as an introductory space on the hill of the Molinete where through a model and an audiovisual the history of the hill will be covered.
On this same floor you will find the first room with the pieces "treasure" of the collection highlighting the horn of abundance, which gives an image to the site, and the mural paintings of the Muses and Apollo.
On the second floor, the pieces exhibited in glass cases and an amphora, will deepen in the Byzantine and late Roman period.
The third and last floor, point of connection with the archaeological park, will also have showcases to display objects from the Roman era and a lapidary with stone elements.
The conserved ruins will have their corresponding informative panels illustrated with infographics that help the visitor.
In addition, the meeting has reviewed the management of Cartagena Port of Cultures in the months elapsed in 2018. Highlights the great project of architectural, archaeological and museographic intervention in the future Roman Molinete Forum Museum.
The extension of the audioguide service in the different sites and museums of Cartagena Puerto de Culturas complete some of the future interventions.
Also, they have reviewed the many activities that throughout the year have been designed to revitalize the museums underlining the success of the exhibition 'Gladiators' organized in the Punic Wall and the more than 200 activities carried out this summer.
To finish, mention the work of tourism promotion carried out with assistance to some 18 national and international fairs and the programming of more than 30 famtrips to publicize the city and its offer to tourism agents.
