This year, a total of 437 new 'Unibone' cards have been issued for university students to benefit from a flat rate that allows them to travel without limits, and for a single price of 20 euros per month, from anywhere in the city port to universities.
The Minister of Development and Infrastructure, Patricio Valverde, said today during the presentation of the campaign of dissemination and promotion of the 'University Unibone' at the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT) that this is "the cheapest and most comfortable way to that the students count to move to the universities ".
Valverde stressed that "the Community allocates 131,000 euros to finance the 'Unibone' of Cartagena so that the university can save more than 52 percent of the cost of their trips compared to the ordinary ticket fare".
The objective, he said, "is to lower the cost of travel of young people to access their studies at universities and promote sustainable mobility, which also allows reducing the number of cars circulating in the streets, minimizes the carbon footprint and improves air quality. "
The owner of Development stressed that this instrument of transport "is increasingly popular among students and up for the third consecutive year the number of trips in Cartagena."
Thus, in 2017, users of the 'Unibone' made a total of 142,000 trips by bus to attend the study centers, a figure that increased by 8.4 percent compared to 2016, when 131,000 trips were made.
Between January and September of this year, trips with the Unibone have increased by 4.39 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.
The university students have made a total of 101,621 trips with him, while in 2017 they made 97,164 trips.
