The Vintage Market returns to the streets of the Old Quarter of Cartagena during this weekend, 9,10,11 November, which this year will be held under the theme 'Three Cultures' in reference to the elements and activities that can be enjoyed of Arab, Jewish and Christian culture.
The Councilor for Social Services, Mercedes García, presented this Monday, November 5, all activities and developments that will take place in the municipality during the celebration of this event.
As Garcia has indicated, this activity has a double objective: on the one hand seeks to leave evidence and instruct on the way of life and cultures in the past and, on the other hand, invigorate and revitalize the historic area of ​​Cartagena.
Throughout the weekend eight companies will act to animate the events with period representations that will be directed to both adults and children.
The market will consist of more than 140 stops that will offer handicrafts and food.
Thus, there will be honey stands, salted meats, sausages, oils and many other products, as well as leather, textiles, wooden toys, silver, seeds, glass and natural cosmetics, among others.
Also, the mayor of Social Services, Mercedes Garcia, explained that as has been the tradition many artisans of the municipality participate in the market - this time they will do a total of 25 - to which the promoter has left a preferred space.
In this edition there will be 18 exhibitions of ancient crafts, with which visitors can learn firsthand how goldsmiths, glassblowers, bakers, blacksmiths, potters, photographers, etc. work.
García stressed that since the organization has been taken into account the participation of children in all activities of the 'Three Cultures', so two recreational spaces located in the Plaza San Francisco, where there will be a carousel , ferris wheel and toy library and in the Plaza del Risueño, which will have puppet theater, storytelling and make-up area.
All these spaces will have specialized monitors.
This year, as a novelty, four exhibitions have been programmed based on the recreation of different eras.
Thus, there will be an exhibition of medieval costumes, weapons and Jewish, Christian and Arab accessories.
Another novelty of this edition lies in the 1st Meeting of Antiques, which will take place on Sunday, November 11 from 10:30 am.
For the second year in a row, the Bolilleras Meeting will take place, which will start at 10:30 am on Saturday, November 10.
The official opening of the market will take place on Friday, at 1:00 p.m., and is scheduled to be carried out by the mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón.
