The restorer Pilar Vallalta has carried out the reintegration of the end of the nose of the white marble bust of Marcos Jiménez de la Espada from Cartagena, placed in 2017 on the Paseo Alfonso XIII, next to the Secondary Education Institute of the same name.
This damage was caused by the inadequate reaction of the mortar applied to the high summer temperatures.
The mixture is a novel product composed of a carved marble powder with a special type of glue that is applied by layers, mixing two components and pressing with the spatula until the desired finish is obtained.
The fallen fragment that was conserved in municipal dependencies corresponds to the last layers of the tip of the nose and has been replaced by a resin, going back to review the contour of the same with a new application of mortar.
