The mayor of Cartagena and vice president of the Federation of Municipalities and Provinces, Ana Belén Castejón, presented this morning at the Executive Committee, held in Murcia, the Housing Assistance and Intermediation Service (SAVI) that has been launched by the City Council. Cartagena during this term and that has served as an example of good practices in this matter for the rest of town councils in the Region.

It is a specialized service that was created to respond to housing needs of Cartagena and has three specific objectives: Prevent situations of loss of housing;

inform and guide on possible alternatives, as well as on the portfolio of available resources;

and assist and mediate in the mortgage eviction processes.

"When we arrived at the municipal government housing was a very important problem and civil society, led especially by the Platform of Affected by the Mortgage, demanded urgent solutions.

The first thing we did was sit down with them and create the Housing Board under the parameters of participation, clarity and transparency.

Thanks to all this we have managed to become pioneers, not only in our Autonomous Community but throughout the country, "said the mayor.

The City Council, the Administration of Justice, the Autonomous Community, financial institutions, real estate services, the Platform for Affected by Mortgages, the Federation of Neighborhood Associations and the EAPN (Network for the fight against poverty and social exclusion).

Precisely from this table have come the tools and products that help Social Services professionals in their work, as the resource guide and the ordinance of the Registry of Housing Claimants.

HOUSING DAYS

Castejón has also announced that in the next FEMP meeting "it will be agreed to hold a few days of housing in Cartagena in which this service will be presented to the rest of the mayors of the Region, so that they know the importance of being the councils, for being the administration closest to the citizen, those who seek solutions to this problem ".
