The Adoptive Daughter of Cartagena, Rosa Juaneda, already has a street dedicated to her memory.
Festeros, processionists, politicians, friends and relatives were present, along with the mayor, Ana Belén Castejón, Municipal Corporation and the rest of the authorities, among whom was the mayor of Guardamar del Segura, where he was originally from, José Luis Sáez , in the emotional act of homage celebrated on Friday at sunset in the Campus of the Muralla del Mar of the Polytechnic University, next to the southern facade of the Antigones Barracks.
Moments before the ceremony began, bursting in from the ruins of the Amphitheater, the troop of the Hoplite Warriors, in which the former exconcejala and exdiputada socialist militated.
In her speech, the mayor gave an account of the great personality of Rosa Juaneda, born in Guardamar del Segura (Alicante) in 1952, but linked to Cartagena since she was small, where she actively participated in the creation of the Carthaginian and Roman Festivals, it was a enthusiastic festera and processionist and also stood out for his struggle for the historical heritage of the city, of which he was a councilor between 1995 and 2002, in which he resigned to occupy his post of deputy in Congress, a position he held for two terms.
She died prematurely in 2008, Rosa Juaneda, was named Adoptive Daughter of Cartagena posthumously in 2009.
The plaque was discovered by the mayor and the widower of Juaneda, Miguel Ángel Sánchez Amor. Next, two of his granddaughters, who barely had a year when the grandmother passed away, and then one of their three children, Carlos, were in charge to thank on behalf of the family for their affection and the municipal tribute.
Carlos Sánchez spoke of Rosa Rosa, who would have liked to have more time, although he confessed his pride in understanding the great passion he always felt for Cartagena, and that after ten years since his death, they had dedicated a street to him, so related to education, festivals, historical heritage and Easter.
