The Air Quality Board met this morning, under the chairmanship of Mayor Ana Belén Castejón, to report on the actions that the City of Cartagena has carried out in relation to the land of El Hondón.
During the meeting, which was also attended by the mayor of Environment, Manuel Mora, as well as representatives of the Aljorra and Alumbres, it has been explained that since 2016 there has been much progress in this regard, since "studies have been carried out Soil characterization, waste management and now the Polytechnic University of Cartagena is preparing a land adequacy project that, once approved by the Directorate General of Natural Environment and the Nuclear Safety Council, will be the document that marks the road map of the measures to adopt, as well as the use that should be given to the ground ", said Mora.
As for the acquisition of the land of El Hondón, the Councilor for Environment has indicated that "it is a courageous decision that will allow the City Council to have the final word on the future development of the area, with maximum guarantees for health of the citizens and, in addition, being the majority owner, will avoid the speculation of a land that is called to be the great green lung of the city ".
