The Councilor for Public Services, Juan Pedro Torralba, announced this morning that the City will create a taxi table, which are integrated workers' associations, trade unions, Chamber of Commerce and COEC, to find real solutions to the problems of the sector .
"What we intend is that the 253 taxi drivers are the ones who decide how many days of delivery they want and, once they have agreed on this point, create a work table where any social agent that can contribute to guarantee the stability of the sector and the taxi professionals ".
The councilman met this morning at the Palace Hall to find a solution with respect to the system of drafts.
Regarding the proposal of the taxi drivers of one of the associations to be able to attend special services, the mayor has indicated that "we are not against your proposal to continue attending the services that have agreed in advance, but we have to be sure of that there is no legal impediment, because the most important thing is the safety of the taxi workers ".
In fact, Torralba has indicated that an ordinance has been drafted, which will be taken to the Government Board shortly, and that includes the contributions of taxi associations.
"The taxi workers had been waiting for a long time for a legal framework to collect all their demands and I consider that this ordinance is a good starting point"
In addition, they have already begun discussions with the Polytechnic University to draft an agreement that allows them to prepare a feasibility study of the taxi sector in Cartagena.
