The enrollment of new students in the 16 degrees offered by the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT), has grown by 12% compared to last year.
This course has enrolled 861 new students.
Six degrees have covered all the places offered: Engineering in Telecommunication Systems, Telematics Engineering, Industrial Electronics and Automation Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Chemical Engineering and Engineering in Industrial Technologies, explains the Vice Chancellor for Academic Organization, José Luis Muñoz Lozano.
Agronomists (Agri-Food Engineering and Biological Systems) and Naval (Naval Architecture and Marine Systems Engineering) have 91% of covered places.
The enrollment period ends on Wednesday, although the term could be extended for a few days, according to sources from the Academic Management Unit.
The UPCT is carrying out actions to encourage vocations STEM (abbreviations in English of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) among the pre-university students.
The objective is to develop scientific-technical training and involve socio-economic agents.
This strategy is also developed with that initiated by the Autonomous Community and jointly with the UP4 association, which unites the four Spanish polytechnics, as well as the one promoted by the Engineering Academy of Spain and the Social Councils of the Spanish Polytechnics.
