The Museum of the Roman Theater of Cartagena, whose patronage is integrated by the Autonomous Community, the City of Cartagena and the Cajamurcia Foundation, extends its opening hours and days for the next bridge of October 12 to give the opportunity to meet the tourists that visit the city during those days.
Specifically, what is the most visited museum in the Region of Murcia will open its doors next Friday, October 12, Columbus Day, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
the same schedule as Saturday.
Sunday will be extended and will allow visits from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Monday 15 will also be open, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The visit lasts approximately one hour and can be done freely, since the museum has explanatory resources (panels, video, models, interactive) that allow the understanding of all the pieces and elements exposed.
In addition, you can visit with an audio guide available at the reception desk in English, French and Spanish.
Temporary exhibitions
Those who visit the Cartagena Museum next week will be able to visit the temporary exhibition that commemorates the 10th Anniversary of the Roman Theater Museum and that remembers what its discovery meant almost thirty years ago.
It is also shown its comprehensive recovery, a long and complex but exciting process, as well as the ten years since its inauguration, on July 11, 2008.
In the same way, the exhibition 'La mirada de Himilce' remains open, in which the photographs taken by Juan José Ruiz Montoya and Juan Rodríguez Álvarez in different historical sites of the city bring visitors to the various women who have given life at the festivities from Carthaginians and Romans to Princess Imilce.
Routes and visits
As is usual in the offer of the Roman Theater Museum of Cartagena, during this bridge visitors will also have the opportunity to choose routes and themed visits made in collaboration with Cartagena Port of Cultures.
In the entitled 'Temples, goddesses and much theater', participants will live the adventures of a Roman citizen who will invoke the gods to achieve his dream: act in the theater of Carthago Nova.
It will begin its journey in the District of the Forum, where is the Temple of Isis, to look for the protection of the goddess and the pleasures of the thermal baths.
It will take strength invoking Augusto and, soon, it will arrive at the abode of the art and the spectacle, the great Roman Theater.
This activity will take place on October 12 at 12:00 (individual price, 14 euros, reduced, 12 euros, Club Cartagena Port of Cultures, 7 euros).
On Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 (11:00 am) you can make a virtual tour of the theater under the title of 'New experiences'.
Thanks to the virtual glasses, visitors can immerse themselves in the old building, visualize it in 360 degrees, the theater as it was in its time, fly over it or see a small pampering of the time.
The price of the visit will be 10 euros.
The route 'History with flavor: One of Romans' will make a nod to the gastronomy and the Mediterranean diet.
On the 13th (11:30 a.m.) a tour will be scheduled that will allow to know the life in a city of the Roman Empire.
The visit will start at the Roman Theater and will also allow you to discover how citizens enjoyed the thermal baths and the luxurious banquets dedicated to the goddess Isis in the Barrio del Foro Romano.
At the end of the route, you can taste a dish inspired by the Roman cuisine of Apicius' book.
Finally, on October 14 (11:30 am), 'History with flavor: Cartagena Tres Culturas' will reveal the medieval history and the confluence of the three cultures (Christian, Jewish and Muslim) in Cartagena.
It will start in the panoramic elevator, arriving at the Castillo de la Concepción, and the visit will continue along the Church of Santa María la Mayor until reaching the Roman Theater.
The route ends with the tasting of a tapa of Jewish or Muslim cuisine.
