From the Confederal Parliamentary Group of Unidos Podemos, in which Izquierda Unida participates, the government has been urged to complete the process of reforming the Nuclear Safety Law in its aspects affected by the development of the decree of radiologically contaminated soils, all currently in process at the Ministry for the Ecological Transition, a process that has been going on for several years.
Although there is a lack of normative regulation in relation to soils affected by radiological contamination, the Nuclear Safety Council has recognized the existence of such contamination in the Hondón de Cartagena lands with the presence of Uranium-238, this absence should not impede advance the actions that both the CSN and the Ombudsman himself have insisted on two separate reports as necessary and that are included in the Waste and Contaminated Soils Law and that in the case at hand correspond to both the City of Cartagena and the Government Regional.
