Cartagena hosts for the fifth consecutive year the Home Movie Day, which takes place within the framework of the FICC - International Film Festival of Cartagena - so Memories Celluloid and the Department of Culture of the City of Cartagena have scheduled a series of activities to recover and publicize the language of domestic cinema as well as its reuse as archive material that will take place on Friday, October 19, in the Assembly Hall of the Ramón Alonso Luzzy Cultural Center.
The reception and screening of new home cinema collections will take place from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Afterwards, there will be a screening of films in the original format of the Archivo Memorias Celuloides, with sound accompaniment by Pablo Jordán.
To close this day, the documentary 'Many children, a monkey and a castle', which was made with archival material and domestic style, will be screened.
During the day of October 20 in the accounts of Social Networks of Cellular Memories will share some of the most surprising fragments of the Archive in their Instagram accounts and Facebook.
Those interested in participating can take their family movies from this Friday, October 5, from Monday to Friday, between 9:00 am and 1:45 pm and on Tuesdays also in the afternoon, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. hours.
The films will be received by the personnel of the Municipal Archive to be inspected and prepared to be projected by a team of the project Cellular Memories.
There is the possibility that they are digitized, if the participants so require.
The Day of the Domestic Cinema revolves around family films (Super 8, 8mm and 16mm) and their owners.
Its purpose is to make local citizens aware of the importance of this type of material as part of family memory, but also as a historical document and cultural heritage.
This type of meetings (Home Movie Day) began to be organized by The Center for Home Movies in 2002 and have an international character.
Memorias Celuloides is a project of the Audiovisual Preservation Mirror Association that is part of the Domestic Film Network and has the #EuropeForCulture stamp of the European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018.
