The mayor, Ana Belén Castejón, received on Friday, October 5, Brigadier General Carlos Pérez-Urruti, who in August took over as the new Commander of the Navy Protection Force (Geproar), a formal meeting that took place first thing in the morning in the office of Mayor of the Consistorial Palace.
From his new position, General Pérez-Urruti exercises command of the Navy Protection Force, which brings together the Tercio del Sur (located in San Fernando), the Third of Levante (Cartagena), the Third of the North (Ferrol) , the Marine Infantry Group of Madrid and the Canary Islands Security Unit (Las Palmas de Gran Canaria).
Its mission will be to provide the physical security of bases, facilities, centers, agencies and people of the Navy.
Diploma in General Staff and Specialist in Tactical Communications, Pérez-Urruti has done the Amphibious and Expeditionary Operations Courses and is in possession of different civil and military decorations.
