IU-Greens of Cartagena, through its spokesperson and mayoral candidate, Victoria Rodríguez, has demanded both the Regional Government and the Municipal Government to face urgently their respective responsibilities, within their competence, for the decontamination of the grounds of Hondón, and "stop passing the ball and excusing yourself with statements of duties fulfilled."
The leftist candidate insisted that "since it was not acted at the time demanding to pay the polluter, and the law provides that failing the responsibility is the owners of the land and this corresponds almost entirely to both administrations through the public company PODECASA, both the City Council and the Regional Government must proceed immediately to implement the measures already suggested a year ago by the Ombudsman and previously by the Nuclear Safety Council, consisting of the declaration of contaminated soil and its inscription through marginal note in the registry of the property, and the lifting of the perimeter fence of the land ".
From IU-Greens it is insisted that the excuses of non-response from the different agencies affected by the lifting of the fence that the mayor of Cartagena wields, are not an obstacle to the execution of the same under the precautionary or precautionary principle (Article 191 of the Treaty of operation of the EU), the requirement of the Ombudsman and the CSN, and committing to the appropriate modifications indicated in the respective reports once issued.
Similarly, the training of the left requires the regional government to assume its competence in the application of the Waste and Contaminated Soils Act, in accordance with the stipulations of Article 34.1 and 34.3, which clearly oblige the necessary actions to proceed its cleaning and recovery, in the manner and within the deadlines set by the respective Autonomous Communities.
