The XII edition of Cartagena por la Caridad will be celebrated with an extraordinary concert on October 20, in which the Music Units of the General Air Academy (AGA) and the Tercio de Levante (TERLEV) will jointly participate. Benefits will go to the projects carried out in favor of research, the Spanish Association Against Cancer and the Pablo Ugarte Association for research on childhood cancer.
"We will open the doors to solidarity on the occasion of this extraordinary concert", with these words has begun the mayor of Culture, David Martinez, the presentation of this charity gala.
During the presentation, which took place on the morning of this Tuesday, October 2, Martinez has been accompanied by the president of the Charity Association Cartagena por la Caridad, Matías Barco;
the Colonel Commander of the Tercio de Levante, Evaristo J. Gutiérrez del Castillo;
the Commander Director of the Music Unit Tercio de Levante, Jaime Enguidanos;
and the Captain Director of the Music Unit of the General Air Academy, José Manuel Castelló.
In addition, Martinez stressed the importance of allocating the collection to research against cancer "essential to end this 'epidemic' that affects us all in one way or another."
The Charitable Association Cartagena por la Caridad, with the collaboration of the Department of Culture, has scheduled this extraordinary concert, in which said Music Units will meet for the first time in the El Batel Auditorium under the baton of Comandante Músico, Jaime Enguidanos and of the Captain Musician, José Manuel Castelló.
Both will offer a staging with a large repertoire of varied themes, where also, "improvise some surprise", as revealed by Enguidanos and Castelló.
Also, Mezzosoprano Lola Cruz Arjona, will make a special collaboration, interpreting some songs from the repertoire that the Directors of the two Music Units have prepared.
The concert consists of two different parts, with an approximate duration of 30 minutes each and that will have a break between both blocks.
Thus, in the first part two military marches will be performed: the AGA 75 in commemoration of its 75th anniversary, composed of Castelló and another dedicated to the Levante Third, composed of Enguidanos.
In addition, during this first part they will perform Spanish symphonic music, especially the Amor Brujo by Manuel de Falla.
In the second part of this solidary event with music, works such as El Paso Doble a Gavira, by Jerónimo Oliver, original soundtracks of films such as Titanic and the Prince of Egypt, and the symphonic work El Olimpo de los Dioses de Oscar will be performed Navarrese.
On the occasion of this concert the Gold Medals of Cartagena for Charity will be handed out in its XII edition, which on this occasion will fall on the General Air Academy, the Third of Levante and the ex-football player, Alejandro Sagarduy Sarría.
The president of the Cartagena for Charity Association, Matías Barco, said Sagardy "is one of those people who leave a mark, both in sports and personal" to which he added that with this award they want to thank him " their commitment and involvement in social causes and recognize their fight against cancer "
The tickets-donations for the concert on October 20, at 7:00 p.m., are already on sale at the ticket offices of the El Batel Auditorium, Teatro Circo and Ticketmaster, with a price of 6 and 12 euros.
The Cartagena for Charity Association has been planning activities for several years, such as sporting, cultural or festivities "with the sole purpose of collaborating with groups and institutions that seek to help others", as the mayor has described.
