The headquarters of the UNED in Cartagena will be the scenario on 4 and 5 October of the Heritage Days The Amphitheatres of Hispania in the 21st century.
News and proposals for articulation in the current cities, organized by the City of Cartagena and the Associated Center of the UNED with the collaboration of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, the University of Murcia and the Department of Archeology of the University of Valencia.
These days, which are part of the European Year of Cultural Heritage 2018, have been presented Thursday at the Palace Hall by the councilman of the area of ​​Culture, Education and Youth, David Noguera;
who has been accompanied by the general director of History and Archaeological Heritage, Mari Carmen Berrocal.
The councilor pointed out that a series of lectures given by leading personalities in the field of research, both archaeologists and architects, will be presented, which will talk about the amphitheaters of Cordoba, Contributa Iulia in Mediana de las Torres (Badajoz), Segóbriga in Cuenca, the amphitheater of Carmona and the amphitheater of Astigi in Écija, to which are added the latest studies of the amphitheatres of Tárraco and Mérida.
Likewise, he pointed out that the Anfiteatro de Cartagena will have a prominent presence, in whose exhibition, the team of project archaeologists, José Pérez Ballester, Mari Carmen Berrocal and Francisco Fernández Matallana, accompanied by the architect Andrés Cánovas, will present the latest archaeological innovations , as well as the characteristics of the current intervention project.
Later, the mayor stressed that on the morning of October 5 there will be a visit to the Amphitheater of Cartagena, which will be followed by a multidisciplinary round table where various points of view on the amphitheater and the current city will be discussed, with prominence of the Amphitheater of Cartagena.
With the aim of being productive for students, a university extension course has been given to the conference, which will take 20 hours and can be carried out face-to-face and online, in its two modalities, direct and deferred, "That those who can not attend can do it comfortably from their homes from the computer support of the UNED", added Martínez Noguera.
The councilor has reported that people who want to attend the event free can do so freely, although the visit to the amphitheater has a certain capacity.
The mayor of Culture has called these days as a "milestone in the recovery project of our amphitheater," and has emphasized the scientific impact at the national level, "which is another aspect that we can not forget in the patrimonial interventions ", it is finished.
AWARDED THE RECRUITMENT OF THE DIRECTOR PLAN OF THE ROMAN AMPHITHEATER
The councilman has used his speech to recall that for some months is developing a consolidation intervention in the southern area of ​​the double wall of the Plaza de Toros, which have used very innovative construction techniques and appropriate for the stabilization of the wall , which for ten years is supported by scaffolding.
It has also advanced that in the next two weeks will begin the archaeological excavation of the southern sector, for which the authorization of the Directorate General of Cultural Assets is available.
In addition, it has announced that it has already been awarded the contract for the Master Plan of the Roman Amphitheater, which will be completed by the end of this year.
