More than a hundred domino experts, national and international, will meet in Cartagena this Saturday, September 29, in the sixth edition of the 'Ciudad de Cartagena International Tournament, Dominó por Parejas'.
The tournament will be held, starting at 10:00 am, at the headquarters of the School of Business Sciences of the UPCT.
This was announced on Wednesday, September 20, the councilor of the government team, Mercedes Garcia, at a press conference in which she was accompanied by the president of the Domino Federation of the Region of Murcia, Ginés Olmos, and by the director of the same federation, Pedro Jódar.
The mayor Mercedes Garcia explained that the tournament is organized by the Domino Federation of the Region of Murcia, with the collaboration of the Department of Sports of the City of Cartagena and the Polytechnic University of Cartagena.
Garcia has announced that the event will host world experts of this "sport so ingrained in Spanish culture." In which it is expected the participation of more than 120. Registration for the open domino tournament can be done on phones 619 669 250, 657 962 050, or 650 390 000, at a cost of 60 euros per couple.
In addition, Garcia has indicated that "the timing of the celebration is timely, facing the attractiveness that Cartagena offers, especially in the Fiestas de Carthagineses y Romanos".
For the participants and their companions a program of visits has been organized that includes 4 routes that will tour the most emblematic historical spaces of the city.
For his part, the president of the Federation of Domino of the Region of Murcia, Ginés Olmos, has emphasized that dominoes is the sport of the mind "is very important to practice at any age from small to old, because it prevents the disease of Alzheimer's ".
The 'Ciudad de Cartagena International Tournament, dominated by couples' will start at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 29 at the former CIM, headquarters of the School of Business Sciences of the UPCT.
The delivery of prizes and trophies (totaling an amount of 5,000 euros) will be held at 7:30 p.m.
