MC presents different proposals aimed at boosting tourism in the region of Cartagena before the inaction of the socialist government (27/09/2018)

The cartagenerista formation will pose to the Plenary the creation of a Gastronomic Fair of the Field of Cartagena and will demand that its amendment be put in march for the elaboration of the campaign 'Coast of Cartagena'

The MC Municipal Group will present at the next Plenary a series of initiatives with the aim of boosting tourism in the region of Cartagena to the passivity and inaction of the socialist government.

Specifically, the Cartagena training proposes the celebration of a Gastronomic Fair that serves to publicize and popularize outside our borders the typical dishes of Campo de Cartagena, encompassing the municipalities of Mazarrón, Fuente Álamo, Torre Pacheco, La Union, Los Alcázares , San Javier and San Pedro del Pinatar, besides, of course, Cartagena.

Similarly, and also with similar objective, require the local government to make available to HOSTECAR (Association of Hospitality Business and Tourist Accommodation of Cartagena and District) one hundred thousand euros to start the campaign and the Master Plan 'Costa de Cartagena' , as it was approved by amendment of MC, becoming one of the references in the next edition of FITUR (International Tourism Fair).

The Executive of Castejón continues to weigh the present and the future of the Region

Regarding the paralysis of the Executive of Castejón with respect to tourism, the councilor and responsible for Culture and Heritage of MC, Ricardo Segado, explained that today,

Thursday, September 27, World Tourism Day is celebrated since 1980.

"This is, undoubtedly, one of the most important and driving sectors of the region." Despite this, the socialist government has not considered necessary the celebration of any commemorative act, thus weighing, once again, the possibilities of Cartagena " .

"After having verified firsthand that Castejón and his team do not care, because they do not remember any meeting with mayors of this, despite having seven to choose and several of their own party, it's time to supplement their lack of initiative in tourism with an attractive and necessary proposal, "said the mayor.

Gastronomic Fair of Campo de Cartagena

Throughout the current legislature, the different political formations have extolled the need to find decentralizing formulas.

In particular, Segado pointed out, "the Comarca has been talked about thanks to the study commissioned by Mayor José López to the University of Murcia, which some parties have taken up as their own."

Thus, the proposal to launch the Gastronomic Fair Campo de Cartagena, for which the mayor should contact the municipalities of Mazarrón, Fuente Alamo, Torre Pacheco, La Union, Los Alcázares, San Javier and San Pedro del Pinatar In order to transfer the initiative and put it in motion.

Regarding the details, the Cartagena councilor pointed out that "the dates could well be those that in other years have been used for fairs such as the Oktoberfest, at the end of October or the beginning of November, and the location, our municipality, as a precursor , and in the future, the rest, giving the regional dimension that an event of these characteristics deserves, which will undoubtedly arouse expectation and attract visitors ".

Variety and gastronomic wealth of the region

The gastronomy of the Campo de Cartagena region has popular dishes such as cauldron, rice and rabbit, michirones, migas, sausages, meseguera grapes, crespillos, arrope and calabazate, San Antón rolls or the

Asian, whose declaration as an Asset of Cultural Interest has driven MC in recent dates.

Finally regarding this matter, Ricardo Segado has assured that "we are sure that other institutions will turn to this initiative, in which HOSTECAR must also have a place as reference for the sector in the whole region".

Campaign and Master Plan 'Costa de Cartagena'

On the other hand, Segado recalled the amendment to the 2018 Budget presented by MC and approved last May under the heading 'Elaboration of the Campaign and Plan Director Cartagena de Costa'.

"Today there is no news of the Master Plan or the advertising campaign, which has not progressed either, which is why we bring this initiative, to get them out of the labyrinth and so that their mental block does not harm the people of Cartagena anymore."

This proposal, which includes, among others, the realization of weddings on the beaches;

greater visibility to the modernist or illustrated Cartagena and the festivals and traditions, is related to the problem of the coastal settlements of our municipality, which have been overwhelmed by the endemic absence of planning.

"It's about investing in our brand, selling our benefits in a professional and direct way, not waiting for others who have not done so in forty years to help us, and not to be left to the socialist criterion, which we already know is more of personal promotion than of general interest ", concluded Ricardo Segado.
