The City Council coordinates all municipal services to meet the 154 immigrants who arrived at dawn (20/09/2018)

The City of Cartagena has coordinated all its services to meet "in the best possible conditions for these people," explained the mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, before the arrival of one hundred and fifty-four immigrants.

The City of Cartagena has participated in the device to assist immigrants of Algerian origin who have reached the coast of Cartagena between Wednesday night and early Thursday morning.

The crisis cabinet was activated correctly and all the administrations involved were coordinated: Government Delegation, Regional Administration and Cartagena City Council.

On the night of Wednesday, thirty-two people arrived in the city, including four women who have been referred to the Hospitality of Santa Teresa.

The rest of immigrants, one hundred twenty-two, have arrived at the municipality in the early hours of this Thursday.

For their part, the minors will travel to the center of Caravaca.

The mayor, Ana Belén Castejón, joined the crisis office on Wednesday night, chaired by the government delegate, Diego Conesa.

Castejón has highlighted the coordination between the administrations involved.

The first mayor explained that this coordination has flowed given the experience "that unfortunately we have the previous massive arrival of pateras".

After that arrival of immigrants last November, an operative was designed and a crisis cabinet was established to deal with these situations.

The mayor also thanked the rapid response received from all municipal workers, from the area of ​​Social Services, Infrastructure, Sports, Local Police and Fire, "because yesterday before my call they were all there, in that crisis cabinet convened by the Government delegate, to see how and in what way we faced this situation ".

In the same way, Castejón thanked the work of all the NGOs involved, especially the work of the Red Cross.

To conclude, Ana Belén Castejón explained the municipal contribution to this device that has consisted in providing translators, chemical toilets, containers and portable chairs.
