The student of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT) Alejandro Mateo Jiménez has developed for his Final Degree Project (TFG) a game in which the Earth is threatened by an alien invasion through an interplanetary portal.
The game, for Android and iOS smartphones, puts the user in the shoes of a telematic engineer with the mission of saving Humanity.
The application uses augmented reality to include, in real time, virtual elements within the physical universe.
Thus, in one of the screens, the user must access the interplanetary portal.
"The program detects horizontal surfaces and markers to locate the elements of the story," explains the student of the School of Telecommunications.
"The objective is to make the profession of telematic engineer known through gamification", says the directors of the work, Fernando Losilla and Francisca Rosique.
The game exposes four themes that are learned in the degree of Telematics Engineering: antennas, IP packet routing, packet analysis and programming.
"It is a sample of what is learned in the race", adds the recently graduated student.
"The use of augmented reality makes the game more innovative and eye-catching.
We hope it helps to capture the interest of students ", highlights Losilla.
"It will be very useful for the School of Telecommunications in the dissemination of their studies and recruitment of students," says Rosique.
