Raising awareness and informing the population about the reality and needs of patients undergoing an ostomy, is the objective of the training day and solidarity walk organized by the Ostomized Association of Cartagena for the 5th and 6th of October.
The mayor, Ana Belén Castejón, met this morning with the vice president of this group, Clara Heredia;
the treasurer, Isabel Mateo, and the secretary, Antonio Murillo, who have presented the different events that will be held on the occasion of World Ostomy Day, which is celebrated on October 6.
The mayor has expressed her full support and willingness to collaborate as they deem necessary.
The activities will begin on October 5 with the presentation 'How to live with a Colostomy, by the head surgeon of La Arrixaca, Juan Luján, and continue with a round table.
Subsequently, on October 6, there will be a solidarity march through the city in order to inform Cartagena of the presence of the Association and the Ostomized group.
Registration for the march costs 5 euros and those interested can formalize it at the Rosell hospital, the Santa Lucía Hospital and the Icue square on October 3 and 4.
