Students of the School of Agronomists of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT) will be able to carry out internships and final degree projects at the Royal Botanic Gardens Kew in London.
The director and the secretary of the School of Agronomists, Arantxa Aznar and Encarna Conesa, visited the Millenium Seed Bank research center of the Royal Botanic Gardens Kew to establish lines of collaboration within the agreement recently signed between both institutions.
This agreement has been signed through a former student of the School, Pablo Gómez, who currently works as a technician in the center.
A student of Agronomists, Francisco Cánovas, has already been the first student to go to the Millenium Seed Bank to do an Erasmus internship.
He started them in July and will conclude at the end of this month.
The Millenium Seed Bank is the largest bank of wild seeds whose main function is the conservation of endangered species from around the world.
Currently, the UPCT IBV germplasm bank is working with the Millenium sending seeds of endangered wild species from Southeast of Spain so that they can be conserved in the base bank of the London center.
The coordinator of the agreement, María José Vicente, will be responsible for future work arising from this agreement.
