Under the slogan "A space for all" the Popular University offers more than 1,000 seats for the courses and workshops of the new academic year.
With the aim of promoting and promoting the education and culture of the citizens of Cartagena, educational activities are planned both in the center and in neighborhoods and councils throughout the municipality.
The edile of Education, Culture and Youth, David Martínez, along with the director of the Popular University, José Macián, has been in charge of offering all the details of the programming for the new academic year that now begins.
This institution, which is also the Cultural Heritage of the City, expands its offer over previous years with new proposals, "because we want to continue growing as an institution, offering the Cartagenaans the training they have demanded on other occasions and adding new courses", as pointed out by the mayor of Education, David Martinez.
The programming is divided by thematic areas and training actions.
Thus, in the area of ​​workshops the Popular University proposes to develop the artistic facet by learning techniques and artistic procedures such as drawing and painting, ceramics, modeling and sculpture, crafts and textile clothing, among others.
A total of 18 workshops that will be located between the Cultural Center and neighborhoods and councils.
During the previous year, this area counted with the participation of more than 280 students.
In the area of ​​languages ​​"we propose the learning of English and German for those people who, in a pleasant way, want to initiate or improve the knowledge of these languages", said Martínez.
To do this, 7 courses are offered that will be taught in the afternoon, from October to May.
As Martinez has pointed out, "with the aim of facilitating access to university education and vocational training for all interested parties, several courses have been programmed" for those over 25 and 45, as well as access to training cycles As stated by the director of the Popular University, José Macián, "during the past year, 85% of the total of 62 students, passed the tests they were presented."
On the other hand, in the area of ​​new technologies photography workshops of various levels are offered, so that both amateurs who want to begin acquiring knowledge in this discipline, and those who already have some basic or intermediate notions and want to continue their training.
In the same way, a photoshop workshop is scheduled to offer morning and afternoon shifts.
The humanities area includes literature with the Bazar de Letras, cinema with the Cine Forum;
music and singing with various workshops and this year, as a novelty, also offers the theater workshop.
The already traditional routes of the Popular University offer several possibilities to know the municipality and the region of Cartagena through the exits that are framed within the Cultural, Environmental and Photographic routes.
The School of Emotional Intelligence offers three courses dedicated to learning this discipline, two for the general public - beginners and superior - and another aimed at AMPAS.
Finally, Martinez pointed out that the Popular University "has doubled the courses offered in the last three years, increasing above all the activity in neighborhoods and councils".
Registration can be made from Monday, September 17, through the website of the Popular University, where all the information about schedules and details of the courses will also be available.
The director of the UP, José Macián, has indicated that it is important the haste in the registration and enrollment in the different formations because the quota is usually complete in a short time.
POETRY AWARD ANTONIO OLIVER BELMÁS
On the other hand, the Popular University announces the XXXII edition of the International Poetry Prize Antonio Oliver Belmás, "a call already consolidated in the world of verse and also this year commemorates the 50th anniversary of the death of the poet", as indicated by the edil of Education, Youth and Culture, David Martínez.
Therefore, in this new edition will be scheduled activities, meetings with authors and will be published some works related to the poet and founder of the Popular University.
