Recent data known in Spain on suicide through the Suicide Observatory, indicate that about 10 people a day put an end to their lives, and these figures undoubtedly affect the child population.
According to data from the National Institute of Statistics, 1512 young people under 29 lost their lives in Spain between 2012 and 2016 due to suicide, being one of the leading causes of death among young Spaniards and the second worldwide .
These data transferred to the Region of Murcia, reflect that young people have taken their lives 64 young people under 29 years, also in the period between 2012 and 2016.
In the case of young people and adolescents, one of the causes of this high number of suicides is the misuse of new technologies and social networks, which end in cases of Cyber Bullying and School Harassment, as a consequence of a driven impulsivity out for lack of control of emotions and a high load of emotional stress, which results in a situation of depression and personal loss of control.
The use of Social Networks and New Technologies among young people does not promote suicide in itself, but they can distort reality and be a stress enhancer in situations of harassment.
That is why the role of parents must be paramount when it comes to educating and raising awareness among their children.
