The General Directorate for Environment and Mar Menor reports that Level 1, which is preventive, has been activated for the "Framework Protocol for Pollution" in La Aljorra due to the exceeding of the average daily concentration of PM10 particles.
Specifically, during the day of Thursday, September 13, the average daily concentration was 52 μg / m3, when the daily limit value established is 50 μg / m3.
The most probable cause of the situation that was registered yesterday in La Aljorra, according to the General Directorate of Environment and Mar Menor, is the intrusion of African air masses, as the predictive models had pointed out.
Specifically, the possibility was foreseen that surface dust concentrations would be recorded in the range of 10-80 μg / m3 in the southwest, southeast and east peninsular.
The recommended measures, during the period that the preventive level remains active, are the following:
Preferably use public transport, avoiding as much as possible the use of private vehicles when it is not strictly necessary, especially when traveling within this population.
Do not burn stubble or agricultural margins.
Avoid the realization of earth movements, cultivation of cultivated areas and other practices that contribute to the generation of dust clouds, especially when the direction of the wind favors the drag of the same towards La Aljorra.
Try to avoid exposure to the ambient air of especially sensitive people, such as children, the elderly and the sick.
