Since last week, the neighbors have been able to check the installation of vertical signage in the so-called 'zones 30' in the accesses to the Historic Center.
This is only one of the measures included in the M17 Strategic Mobility Plan, an initiative promoted by the mayor, José López, and the general direction of the Infrastructures area, in May 2017.
The councilor of MC, María José Soler, recalled that "the Plan includes 20 measures to improve the mobility of the municipality, implemented with the participation of groups and social agents, which together with the UPCT, formed the Mobility Board, which directed the coordinator of Sustainable Development ".
It is worth remembering that this work allowed to set up the dissuasive car parks with free bus on dates of special incidence of traffic, favoring the mobility of residents of neighborhoods and councils at Christmas, Easter or Carthaginians and Romans.
Also, among other measures, the management of MC enabled the purchase of the city's first electric vehicle;
the first chargers for public electric vehicles will be installed;
Mobility Month will be celebrated or dozens of bicycles will be made available to the municipal staff.
Also, in a meeting held in November of 2017, and in agreement with the Local Police, from the responsibilities of the MC Government it was agreed to place the signs of 'zones 30' after the celebration of the Christmas holidays;
start, on the same dates, an experience of 'zones 20' with placement of cameras and restriction of traffic on the Duque, Jara, Aire, Cañón and Príncipe de Vergara axes, as well as the launch of the pilot experience of superblocks in the Ensanche, with the use of mobile elements to guide traffic.
In the same way, it was also decided to study the semi-pedestrianization of the Salitre, Canales and Palma streets, the bidding of the bicycle loan service and the establishment of a bicycle lane model to be able to undertake the complete belt of the city.
María José Soler explained that "nothing has been done about this, so we will insist on the next plenary session on all measures, especially the superblocks, which do not involve investment and can offer a solution to the endemic problems of trafficking in the city, together with the performances that we planned in the Alameda de San Antón and the Paseo Alfonso XIII ".
In addition, he added, "knowing that the City of Cartagena, today, has not registered for the European Week of Mobility, it is clear that we have gone from the Mobility Week to the year of Castejón paralysis."
Notwithstanding what Soler affirmed, the MoviliCT collective, in contrast to socialist inaction, has convened various activities for the Mobility Week, filling the void caused by the municipal government.
María José Soler pointed out that "the socialist inaction in mobility weighs on the municipality because, to this, we must add that the V18 program, complementary to the M17, is not implemented normally due to the socialist refusal to support mobility or recover the plant cover of the municipality, counting on the support also of the conformism of the rest of formations that support him ".
Finally, the mayor of Cartagena has demanded that "measures be taken to use public transport that eliminated the mayor at Easter and how much acceptance and result they had on the holidays of Carthaginians, Kings or Friday of Dolores."
