The academic senate of the University of Foggia, in the Italian region of Apulia, has unanimously approved the honoris causa in science and food technology to the professor emeritus of UPCT Francisco Artés Calero.
The Italian university stands out from the researcher of the Polytechnic of Cartagena who is universally recognized as a pioneer in the fresh preservation of fruits and vegetables.
The recognition award was proposed by professors Agostino Sevi and Giancarlo Colelli.
The academic ceremony will be held between December and January.
We think that his research is a beacon for the entire new range of food and for a sustainable food future, Sevi said in his argument.
The Italian university also highlights the multidisciplinarity of its research career, in which techniques of engineering, microbiology, chemistry and agronomy have been combined.
This same year, Francisco Artés Calero has received the Prize of the Scientific and Organizing Committee of the XII National Symposium and IX Iberian Maturation and Postharvest, organized by the Spanish Society of Horticultural Sciences.
Shortly before it was also awarded by the Ibero-American Association of Post-Harvest Technology and the Association of Conservers and Food Companies (AGRUPAL).
Artés Calero founded the Post-Collection and Refrigeration group in the UPCT. He has made 750 scientific publications, 177 of them in JCR journals, according to the Italian University.
