With the arrival of autumn, the fifth edition of the Master International Crossing to Cabo de Palos 'Timoncap', which will be held on October 8, arrives on the Cartagena coasts.
This is the penultimate stage of the Spanish Open Water Cup for the master and premaster categories, and is organized by the Máster Murcia swimming club in collaboration with the City of Cartagena through the Department of Sports.
To explain the details of the test, the first deputy mayor, Juan Pedro Torralba, appeared before the media;
the general director of Sports of the CARM, Alonso Gómez;
the vice-chancellor of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, Sergio Amat and the director of the Murcia Master Swimming Club, María José Montesinos.
The swimmers who face the test must complete a 3.5-kilometer route, which will be located at the port of Cabo de Palos and will have a goal at the Levante beach.
Torralba stressed that it is a sports event whose protagonist is, without a doubt, the medium in which it is celebrated.
"The athletes will find crystal clear waters, in which to enjoy the marine landscape, posidonias and great variety of marine species that the area possesses".
Also, the first deputy mayor wanted to highlight the wide range of categories that will meet next Sunday, October 7, starting at 10:00 am, whose ages range from 18 years and up.
In addition, there will be a specific category for people with special needs.
And, this test also aims to boost the Cartagena coast in low season, after the summer period, "helping to end seasonality in this area," said Torralba.
Montesinos stressed that it is one of the most attractive tests for lovers of this water sport.
"It is an 'open' that takes place in a nature reserve, a unique setting, in which the family and friends who come to encourage the athletes can participate in the test at all times."
Currently, when there is about a month for the celebration of the test, there are more than 100 participants registered and as agreed by both the first deputy mayor and the general director of Sports, this number is expected to increase to 200 participants approximately.
Similarly, Montesinos, has pointed out that if the weather does not accompany and that on the day of the appointment there is bad sea, an alternative circuit is planned to ensure the safety of all participants.
For his part, the Vice Chancellor of the UPCT, Sergio Amat, has stressed the need to support events like this, "in which the sport is promoted and athletes of all ages."
Registration can be formalized through the chrono3 website.
