The new parquet floor of the central court of the Sports Palace of Cartagena is being installed for a few days.
In the new platform the specialists in sports facilities are placing 8,300 support points to level the firm.
In addition, they are placing one of the most ductile woods on the market, made specifically for this sports complex given the average level of humidity that must be supported.
A peculiarity of this new platform is the leveling that installers are doing.
The track will have more than 8,300 support points, through some of which are being placed these days.
The firm will then have a regular boat, and will also facilitate the bending of the athletes, assuming a less effort to carry out their sport.
Another of the peculiarities of this parquet is that KTL is one of the few manufacturers that makes the material taking into account the place where it is going to be installed, in this case it has taken into account the average humidity level of Cartagena, from the highest to the lowest.
The specialist in sports facilities and manager of the company Mompadeport, José Antonio Pinto, affirms that the parquet that is being installed in the Palacio de Deportes will be one of the best in Spain, since it has the best materials available in the market of timber.
"Due to its characteristics, it is the most ductile which means that it is capable of withstanding the humidity changes in the environment, having very few tensions," says Pinto.
Another feature of the product is that it is left to dry for two weeks in ovens.
As explained by Pinto, "one of the main problems that the old parquet of Cartagena had was that the wood had not gone through this process".
In addition, its manufacturer, KTL has created a product taking into account the deficiencies that had the products that existed in the market of sports facilities.
The product can be cleaned with an industrial machine and with a minimum of water.
The manufacturers have also taken into account the areas where there will be more water spillage, and also that the wood over the years should be sanded and varnished.
"In that process you can not stick one table to another, so the manufacturer has designed a system of sealing all the edges to scrub and so when a table is varnished does not stick to the other," said Pinto.
In this way the wood will grow or shrink one by one, without making blocks.
Once the leveling process is finished, the wood will be placed to later be polished, painted and varnished to water.
A process that will not take more than 15 days.
