The area of Quality of Life and Wellbeing of the City of Cartagena, which until today was headed by Obdulia Gómez, is working on a project to accept street cats.
It will do so through a pilot experience in the feline colony that frequents the facilities of the Local Police Barracks of Los Dolores - Castillitos.
The project will consist of the regularization of its members through its sterilization, vaccination, microchip placement and deworming.
The program was born as a way to help and give a second chance to animals that are an unwanted pet, but that can perform a common good to the community.
The adoption of these animals encounters enormous difficulties because they are mostly feral animals.
The pilot experience of Castillitos will be useful as biological control of pests, such as rodents or cockroaches, and will also ensure that these cats have a healthy life.
For this, a project will be carried out following the following steps:
- Capture of all the cats of the dependencies of the Los Dolores Barracks.
- Health assessment, sterilization, vaccination, microchip placement and deworming.
- Drop at the pick-up point.
