The General Directorate of Environment and Mar Menor has informed the City of Cartagena that is active in La Aljorra level 1 (preventive) of the "Framework Protocol for municipal action in environmental episodes of pollution NO2 and PM10" for overcoming by second day consecutive of the average daily value of PM10 particles during the day yesterday, September 6.
Specifically, the average daily concentrations of PM10 recorded on days 5 and 6 in September were 60 and 66 μg / m3, respectively, compared to 50 μg / m3, which is established as a limit value in RD 102/2011.
The most probable cause of this episode, according to the General Directorate of Environment and Mar Menor, has been the intrusion of Saharan dust.
The recommended measures, during the period that the preventive level remains active, are the following:
Preferably use public transport, avoiding as much as possible the use of private vehicles, especially in journeys within this population.
Do not burn stubble or agricultural margins.
Avoid carrying out earth movements, cultivation areas and other practices that contribute to the resuspension of particles deposited in the soil.
Try to avoid exposure to the ambient air of especially sensitive people, such as children, the elderly and the sick.
