The children admitted to the hospital Santa Lucia de Cartagena have since today a new outdoor leisure space equipped with outdoor games, in order to make your stay in the center more pleasant.
The Ministry of Health has launched the program 'CurArte at home' in the Pediatrics Area of ​​the Santa Lucía General University Hospital of Cartagena with the aim of humanizing the environment in which the children are during their period of hospitalization.
The project arises from the agreement between the Murcian Health Service (SMS), the Curarte Foundation and the Repsol Foundation to promote psychological, pedagogical and social support for the sick and their families by promoting activities and actions aimed at improving the quality of life of this group.
"From the Ministry of Health always try to hospitalized children enjoy more human and child environments, it is proven that these environments can contribute to their well-being and recovery," said the Minister of Health, Manuel Villegas, during his visit to this new space.
"It is about providing assistance from a more comprehensive and human point of view, taking into account all aspects that may facilitate your stay and reduce the consequences of the disease, particularly in this case, during your stay in the hospital", he pointed
To this end, an outdoor space has been set up in the Pediatrics area where vinyl has been placed with illustrations on the windows and walls, as well as rubber tiles, and different elements of outdoor playground have been arranged, such as seesaws, slides and banks, among others.
More than 800 income
The pediatric service of the Santa Lucía hospital registered 831 admissions and 2,845 stays in 2017, and 478 children in total were attended by the Hospital and Home Health Care Team in the short and medium stay modality.
The development of these programs of humanization of the environment of hospitalization of children try to favor the attention of the psychosocial and affective needs of the hospitalized minors creating a comfortable environment that contributes to their recovery
The most human and child environments help to reduce the anxiety and fear that children present in hospital environments.
It is also proven that these environments, on occasion, can contribute to their well-being and recovery and also facilitate the work of doctors and nurses.
