The mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, has requested a meeting with the president of the Autonomous Community, Fernando López Miras, to address the deficient situation of health in Cartagena and the need for the Santa María del Rosell Hospital to function at full capacity .
The mayor has informed the president of his concern about the saturation problem suffered by the primary and hospital care centers in Area II of Health, to which the municipality belongs.
The councilor said that in this meeting the president of the CARM will be required to open the Hospital del Rosell at 100%, with an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) included.
"The Regional Government still does not understand that the laws must be complied with even if one has not supported them.
He has had plenty of time to reopen the Rosell completely and meanwhile, we continue to suffer the longest waiting lists in the entire region, "stressed the first mayor.
The queues at the door of the emergency service of the Hospital Santa Lucia have been the keynote one more summer.
"We will not continue to allow our citizens and all those who visit us are forced to endure these endless waits," said the mayor.
On the other hand, the mayor recalled that "we are the health area that derives more patients and has more beds arranged in the private health of the entire region, while we have a hospital with many of its services closed.
This is intolerable "
