The municipal group does not understand how the Counselor can discard the health warning if the results of the two studies they are doing to the population are still unknown;
and at the same time they criticize the denial that they show when the entire scientific community, including the officials of the Ministry, have unambiguously recognized the environmental problem in El Llano.
Pilar Marcos, spokesperson for the municipal group and Secretary General of Podemos Cartagena, has declared that "you can not cover the sun with your hands ... or deny the pollution of the Llano with crude lies".
The director of the purple formation recalled that in September 2017 the then Minister of Environment, Javier Celdrán, confirmed the existence of high levels of heavy metals in the school of Llano, and announced a concrete plan to alleviate the negative effects of the presence of minerals in the village.
In PODEMOS they declare to have remained stupefied after being published a declarations to the Truth on the part of representatives of the regional executive in which one assures that the mining deposits "do not suppose a serious danger, nor constitute a situation of sanitary warning, nor a danger for the environment" ambient".
The perplexity is due to the fact that these statements come after the existence of numerous reports and scientific studies, some of them requested by the CARM and the City Council during the year 2017, which determined in a sharp way the high levels of contamination by heavy metals in the Llano. coming from the Sierra Minera.
For PODEMOS, these statements made by the regional government constitute a temerity and a gross denial, especially since the results of the "Emblem Project" and the "Sentinel", which are the studies commissioned by the Ministry of Health, are not yet available. collection of samples among the Sierra Minera population.
Recklessness, denial and irresponsibility, because not only pollution by heavy metals affects the health of neighbors, but also has wreaked havoc on the environment the same waste washed away by the ravines, both in the natural environment of the town and in the own Mar Menor.
For Podemos - CTSSP the cynicism of the Regional Government has no limits, since they themselves proposed the Environmental Recovery Plan for Soils Affected by Mining (PRASAM), which included the inventory and sealing of mining deposits due to the condition it supposed in the health of the neighbors of the Sierra Minera, and nevertheless it seems that now these deposits and the run-off do not suppose any sanitary problem, nor a danger for the environment.
Since Podemos have concluded that if the PP Regional Government lacks the will and humanity to take care of the health and natural environment of Cartagena, they will not be accomplices of tremendous nonsense.
For these reasons they have announced that they will continue to demand complete, rigorous and broader studies of the population of the town (among others, greater age range, study of hair samples and the choice of other towns as "whites", far from the spotlights pollutants).
Likewise, they will continue asking for the rehabilitation and restoration of the rafts with mining waste, demanding the contaminating companies to assume their responsibility in the environmental disaster of the Mar Menor and the Llano.
Finally, from the formation of dwellings they have summoned the Municipal Government to comply with the agreements reached in Plenary with the neighbors, guaranteeing the maintenance of the cleanliness of the town, undertaking the continuous washing in the streets and on the school track, in addition to the start-up of a rainwater network to divert water from the runoffs of the Sierra Minera that reach the school, the streets and the houses of the town's neighbors.
