Cs reproaches the Socialist Executive for the delay in executing the road safety plan agreed in September 2017 (25/08/2018)

- "We managed to increase the maintenance for road markings and vertical signage by 475%, from 78,500 euros in 2017 to 373,000 euros in 2018 but it has not translated for the time being an increase in work to safeguard the safety of pedestrians and drivers in our streets ", has reproached the spokesman of the orange formation in Cartagena, Manuel Padín

The Municipal Group of Citizens in Cartagena denounces that the local PSOE Executive is still not carrying out its obligation to design and execute the road safety and visibility plan in pedestrian crossings and dangerous crossings despite having enough to do so.

The orange training recalled that thanks to the plenary agreement that promoted in September 2017, the budget for the preservation and maintenance of vertical signage and road marking was increased from 78,500 euros in 2017 to 373,000 euros in 2018, almost in a 500% "but we are not seeing that this significant increase in the budget has meant an increase in work, and far from it, that the order of the actions has been prioritized according to the danger as we requested in the September motion ", Manuel Padín has indicated.

As has been publicly denounced, the crossing between Trafalgar Street and Wissel de Guimbarda, and that of Sparta with Doctor Pérez Espejo, areas of great school attendance due to the existence of two schools, continues with a marked lack of maintenance of the brands vials and replenishment of vertical signs.

The orange spokesman has reported that "every day, we receive citizen complaints in the Municipal Group about areas near schools, medical centers, parks or courts, where pedestrian crossing is not visible or directly does not exist, and we know that these deficiencies are even greater when you enter neighborhoods such as San Antón or San Ginés, and in the councils, whose neighborhood councils can not meet all needs with their economic reserve depleted.

"If Cs has managed to increase by 294,500 euros, the item destined for this concept is for things to be done, and for us to take advantage of the summer months to carry out these tasks, before schoolchildren return to school," the spokesperson has criticized. Orange, who also referred to another point of the Cs agreement, "the study and elimination of obstacles in pedestrian crossings and crossings that reduce visibility, such as garbage containers and cars over reckless parking spaces, is still pending" .

As for the speed bumps, the orange formation also proposed an impact study of the installation of speed bumps to reduce speed in different areas of the city, "it is still pending that the government team carry out an inventory of existing speed reducers in the municipality with specification of its morphology as well as the formulation of a municipal ordinance for speed reducers according to the regulations ", Padín has informed.

Crossing between the streets Ciclamen and Écija, to Plenary

The intersection of Ciclamen Street and Ecija Street is a conflict zone from the point of view of safety and where several accidents have already occurred, one of them recently and with serious consequences.

In this area, between the Sports Palace and the road of Tentegorra, the neighbors complain bitterly that the lack of visibility forces them to join from Ecija Street to Ciclamen Street, entering almost half of the roadway, and have requested repeated times to this City Council that applies security measures such as vertical signs, traffic lights, or any other that is deemed appropriate by the local Executive and help minimize the danger. "

"This crossing is just one of the many that exist in the municipality of Cartagena," lamented Manuel Padín.
