These species are in danger of extinction due to lack of attention and maintenance since it was ceded to the City Council in June 2017
The Neighborhood Board of La Palma will hold an ordinary plenary session tonight, during which MC Cartagena will present a series of initiatives aimed at improving different aspects of the council.
Thus, the training will propose, among other measures, that it act with urgency in the Garden of Cándido with the objective of saving its plant species.
In this way, MC's vocalist, Mari Carmen Saura, will request explanations about the state of abandonment and for the lack of a minimum of attention and maintenance in the Garden of Candide, in whose garden, of 3,775 square meters and more than sixty years of antiquity, it houses a hundred species that are in danger of extinction.
All this due to the lack of attention since June last year was ceded to the City Council by its owner, Cándido García Molera, as an ethnobotanical center of the Campo de Cartagena.
Star Project of Participatory Budgeting
The aforementioned space was chosen by the people of Palma as one of the star projects in the latest Participatory Budgets, with a budget of 75,000 euros, an insufficient amount to undertake an integral project of the same, so it was increased by one hundred thousand euros thanks to the MC Cartagena amendment that was approved in the municipal Budget last May.
Faced with this situation, the cartagenerista vocal appeal to the municipal sensitivity to carry a minimum monthly maintenance of daily gardening and relief irrigation to avoid the loss and extinction of plants such as cactus, succulents and crasas, which make up more than one hundred plant species and that since receiving it they have received no more irrigation than the scarce rainwater.
Likewise, it will urge the repair of the damaged side fencing to prevent theft.
These measures would be carried out while the municipal services draft the project and present it for subsequent contracting.
Questions and questions
In the question and answer section, MC will urge the City Council to order the immediate withdrawal of the old lampposts and the power lines in different streets of the recent project launched with new points of light and underground.
Likewise, Mari Carmen Saura will ask, after the news published in the press and the last notification of Hidrogea to the users about the connections of lead in the houses, about the state of the old houses of the Cooperativa y del Secadero, among others, that They have about fifty years since their construction.
Thus, it will also question the results of the analyzes carried out in recent months.
