The Museum of the Roman Theater offers, for Saturday, August 25, a different night in which the visitor can make a night visit to the most emblematic work promoted by Augusto in the old Carthago Nova: The Roman Theater.
The trip allows you to experience first hand, in a relaxed and exclusive environment, a journey that begins at the Museum with the help of a guide, with a small group of people, discovering the keys of Roman civilization, to end in the jewel archaeological site of the Roman Theater under the light of the moon.
Along the way you will reach room 1 that houses the collection of monumental architecture, in addition to visiting the high levels with the unexpected appearance of the impressive space of the cavea.
It gives the necessary keys to understand the architecture of the theater building through the exhibition of original pieces as well as a model and other didactic elements.
The entity of its architectural elements;
Bases, cornices and above all capitals, make the theater of Cartagena a magnificent example of the public and monumental architecture of the time of Augustus, whose image presides over the Hall as benefactor of the city.
In room 2 the visitor approaches the knowledge of the functions of the Theater in Antiquity, since in addition to its playful function the theatrical building is the ideal setting for Augusto's own political and religious propaganda, personified in the Roman Theater of Cartagena by the two young princes, Cayo and Lucio, who also had to participate in the financing of the same and probably in the election of their ornamental program.
As in other Roman cities, the most notable members of the city, such as the Iunius and Postumios, also participated.
The contemplation of altars and inscriptions allows visitors to understand the keys of patronage and political promotion in ancient times.
The end of the trip culminates with the unexpected appearance of the imposing grandstand of the Roman Theater in the light of the moon.
The activity will leave the Museum of the Roman Theater, on Saturday, August 25, at 9:00 p.m. and is priced at 10 euros.
