The delegation of Alumbres celebrated last Thursday, August 17, its big day in honor of its patron saint, San Roque, which served as the culmination of its patron saint festivities.
In the afternoon the solemn mass was celebrated in honor of the patron, who was attended by the mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón;
and the councilman of Celebrations, Juan Pedro Torralba.
After the Eucharist, the images of the Assumption of the Virgin, leading the procession, and of San Roque, followed by the many residents and visitors who attended the celebration.
The procession culminated with the meeting of the Virgin and San Roque in front of the church door amidst the applause of the crowd that gathered to witness the moment.
NEW STROLL OF SAN ROQUE
The mayor took advantage of his visit to discover together with Juan Pedro Torralba and the presidents of the Neighborhood Board and the Association of Neighbors, Miguel Garrido and Juan Zapata, the plaque indicating the new San Roque Walk.
The new recreation area has recently been equipped with 10 new points of LED light, following the energy saving regulations, for which a total of 31,000 euros have been invested.
The lighting of this Paseo San Roque, one of the main access arteries to Alumbres, responds to a historic claim of the neighbors that has been answered from the City of Cartagena.
The project, which has been carried out in this walk, consists of the installation of polyester columns of six meters high, led technology, in the last section of the walk of about 200 meters towards the exit of the town, which have been painted green color to favor its camouflage.
