The Parish of Santa María del Mar in Cabo de Palos hosted on Wednesday, August 15, the traditional Mass in honor of the Virgen del Carmen, which was followed by the procession that began in the port and continued at sea.
The act was attended by the mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, the councilor spokeswoman, Noelia Arroyo, as well as various members of the municipal corporation among which were Álvaro Valdés, of the Popular Party;
and Manuel Padín and Ana Rama, from Ciudadanos.
There was also the senior patron of the Fishermen's Association of Cartagena, Bartolomé Navarro.
The first mayor was in charge of launching the flower anchor with which the sailors remember their dead companions.
After touring the streets of the town, the carving of the Virgin continued the procession by sea, followed by hundreds of neighbors and tourists who interrupted their vacation to accompany her from the walks and cliffs of the town.
In this procession the deceased sailors are remembered, with the presence of numerous private boats that came to contemplate the act.
At the end of the maritime procession, the Virgin returned to earth and was carried back to the church.
