Agents of the Local Police of Cartagena rescued this weekend a dog that had been abandoned by its owner inside a vehicle parked in full sun.
The animal had clear symptoms of dehydration.
The events occurred on the afternoon of Sunday, August 12, in the vicinity of Cala Cortina, when a citizen gave notice to the Local Police of Cartagena after observing the dog inside the vehicle with all the windows closed.
Therefore, the agents moved to the place, where they found that the vehicle was completely closed and also observed that the dog had clear symptoms of dehydration.
In addition, the vehicle was parked in the sun, with a temperature outside at that time of 41ºC.
After trying, unsuccessfully, to locate their owner, they finally decided to break one of the vehicle's windows to gain access to its interior.
The agents found that the animal was significantly affected by exposure to high temperatures, so they took him to a place protected by the sun and provided him with water.
Finally, the owner of the vehicle and the owner of the animal appeared at the scene and after identifying them, the agents ordered proceedings for an alleged crime of animal abandonment.
