- The mayor has attended today as a witness to the Court of Instruction 5 of Cartagena
The Councilor for Citizens in Cartagena, Ana Rama, has attended today as a witness to the Court of Instruction 5 of Cartagena for a crime against the historical heritage allegedly perpetrated by a citizen of German nationality.
In the afternoon yesterday, the orange mayor surprised a man of middle age and German origin in a restricted area, on one of the terraces of the hillside of the hill of Molinete.
The mayor of the orange training has indicated that "that person should not be there for their own physical integrity, and was also inspecting a public domain very protected, collecting assets and depositing them in a black fridge, therefore committing an alleged crime against the cultural and historical heritage of Cartagena ".
This German citizen, on vacation in Cartagena and without a criminal record, has today recognized the facts that are imputed to him and has reached an agreement with the judicial administration that has not transpired.
"It is not the first time that our deposits are depleted by individuals who individually or organized are dedicated to archaeological pillaging for fraudulent sale through the Internet, or other channels that are often used in the black market," reported Ana Rama who recalled that in the April and June Plenary, his Municipal Group denounced the abandonment of the Molinete Archaeological Park and warned that the fence that delimits its outline was open and allowed access to the mill of San Cristóbal ".
As soon as she was aware of the situation, the mayor of Cs called the Local Police of Cartagena that in less than 10 minutes went to the area, arrested the man, seized the items he was transporting for further analysis and transferred him to the police station. where he was interrogated and brought to justice.
The councilor took photos and recorded a video of the events to graphically document what was happening.
Citizens demand the PSOE Government to once and for all arrange the area of the perimeter fence that gives access to the Mill of San Cristóbal and hillside of the Molinete that falls on Morería Baja and the relevant security cameras are installed, "we are not going to stop this criminal phenomenon but the harder we put it to the spoilers better, "says Rama.
Situation debated in the plenary session of April and June
The Councilor for Citizens asked for explanations in June for the security and maintenance conditions of the Molinete archaeological park.
The orange formation considers that the place "is in a state of complete abandonment".
Rama, believes that "just walk around it to appreciate the lack of maintenance in terms of cleaning and gardening, the graffiti and dirt found in its heritage remains, highlighting the interior of the mill and the Temple of the Syrian goddess Atargatis II century before Christ ".
Cs also asked about the operation of the security cameras, for the actions related to gardening and trees and for the protection measures for the mosaic located in the Atargatis goddess' aedicule, since the surrounding fence allows access to it .
In addition, Cs wanted to know if the municipal government has raised the value of the perimeter of the mill of San Cristóbal, where the structures of castellum aquae are located and which was excluded from the archaeological park.
The councilor responsible for the area of Culture, David Martinez admitted many of the problems detected and said that the Government of Cartagena is preparing a plan for the landscape adaptation of the environment, the replanting of native trees and tree species, more security cameras, and better protection systems for some of the elements that the park contains, "but it is not enough nor is it at the height of what this archaeological treasure deserves," Rama concludes.
